9/13/2007 There is much progress to report on the Waterway!

Design

Scott has revised the design.  Per comments the structures were removed, replaced with natural steps and the gathering area and beach have been enlarged.  As such, the budget has been revised to reflect the changes.  It is significantly less (though still over $200,000).

Funding

The City of Seattle Aquatic Habitat Matching Grant is still pending.

We did not receive funding from King County Waterworks, though our proposal was forwarded with a strong recommendation to the Community Salmon Fund; we’ll hear about the status of that is early October.

We are fundraising and developing a capital campaign.  If anyone knows of any prospects for grants and/or individual gifts, please forward the information to me.

Prelim site analysis

We have hired Hammond Collier to survey the Waterway; we expect the job completed by the end of the month. We are working with Landau Associates on a soil analysis focusing on the “daylight” area.  We’ll update on progress at the next meeting.

Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 1st at 6pm (please confirm this time Bob).

Kickoff Event!

We are working with Tara at DNR to get permission for a work party on Saturday October 27th.  We plan to remove a section of invasive plants and replant with native species.  There will be more details at the next meeting.

Call me if you have any questions of concerns.
